Australian Barbecue Alliance Hall of Fame 2026
In 2026 the Australian Barbecue Alliance (ABA), the body that sanctions competition barbecue across the country, awarded The Que Club BBQ Business of the Year in its 2026 Hall of Fame, for our significant contribution to, and ongoing work with, the Australian barbecue scene. The award sits in the ABA's "Honouring the heart of BBQ" category, which recognises the people and businesses who have shaped Australian barbecue.
We're in good company. The 2026 honours also went to Big Smoke BBQ (Team of the Year), Russell Steele (Personality of the Year), Don Burningham (Crew Member of the Year), Fat Apple Events (Event Promoter of the Year) and Meatstock Toowoomba (Event of the Year). These are the teams, cooks and promoters we've stood beside at comps and festivals for a decade, which is exactly why this one means so much.
The award came as a genuine surprise, and we're honoured. For us it recognises the things we've done every day since we opened in 2017:
A decade of smoke, fire and a few trophies

Andrew & Pam Kavanagh
Every good barbecue has someone tending the fire. At The Que Club, that's Andrew and Pam. They turned a weekend obsession with smoke into a comp team, then a store, a cooking school and a whole community of people who'd rather be standing around a smoker than anywhere else.
They're still hands-on. Andrew sits on the board of the Australian Barbecue Alliance and has been called in by Good Food as one of Melbourne's barbecue experts. Pam is a familiar face in the cooking school, and customers regularly mention her by name after a class.
Between them they've cooked on just about everything in the showroom. That's the deal here: we only sell what we cook on, and we only cook on what we love.
Where it started · 2015
The Que Club started where all good barbecue starts: around a smoker at 3am, waiting on a brisket. In 2015 Andrew and Pam Kavanagh formed the Natural Born Grillers competition team, later joined by Dean and Dana. That same year Andrew and Pam cooked their way to the semi-finals of Seven's Aussie Barbecue Heroes.
The team was soon taking home trophies on the Australian circuit, including first place in pork ribs at the Cider & Pork Festival and at Sydney Yaks. More than a decade on, the Natural Born Grillers are still competing, still learning and still bringing what works on comp day back to the store.
2017 · Brunswick East
Back then there was nowhere in Australia to get serious barbecue gear, ingredients and know-how under one roof. So Andrew and Pam took a barbecue road trip across the US, from New York through Atlanta, Nashville, Memphis and Texas to Kansas City, studying the stores, pits and pitmasters that defined American barbecue.
They came home with a plan. The Que Club Pty Ltd was established in July 2017 and opened its doors in Brunswick East in September 2017 as a small store, café and cooking school dedicated to low 'n' slow.
2021–2024 · Lygon Street
As Melbourne's barbecue scene grew, so did we. Around 2021 we moved to 434 Lygon Street, where the store, school and a full restaurant ran side by side and hosted some of the biggest names in barbecue.
At the start of 2024 we brought everything together in a purpose-built home at 3-7 Syme Street, Brunswick: a big retail showroom, a dedicated cooking school and an event space, with our wholesale and head office on site. The restaurant closed in mid-2024, and today our focus is where it started: the gear, the know-how and the people who love cooking with fire.
Today · 3-7 Syme Street
Walk into The Que Club and you'll smell it before you see it: smoke, spice and something good on the go. Our Brunswick home covers around 1,650 square metres and is built for people who love to cook outdoors, with more than 1,400 products from over 130 brands, and cookers set up so you can lift the lid, check the build and see exactly what you're getting.
But the real difference is the people behind the counter. Our crew cook on this gear at home, in our school and on the comp circuit. Ask them how to hold 110°C on a kamado, which pellets suit pork, or how to stop a brisket stalling, and you'll get an honest answer from someone who's done it.
Shopping online? We ship Australia-wide, with free shipping on orders over $149 (bulky items excluded), Afterpay and Zip at checkout, and click & collect from Brunswick, usually ready in two hours.
Our one rule
It's the simplest rule in the shop, and the one we've never bent: we only sell what we cook on, and we only cook on what we love. Every smoker, grill, rub and tool on our floor has been put through real cooks by our crew, in our school or at comps. If something doesn't make the cut, it doesn't make it to the showroom.
That's why some of the best names in barbecue trust us with their range:
When you buy from The Que Club, you're buying gear that's already earned its place on our pits.
The Que School
The best way to get better at barbecue is to cook it with someone who's done it a thousand times. Our purpose-built cooking school in Brunswick runs hands-on BBQ classes taught by working pitmasters and qualified chefs. Every class is around three hours, you cook on real gear, and you eat everything you make.
Private and corporate classes. Skip the boardroom and fire up the pit. Private masterclasses run for groups of 10 to 40 with a custom menu, in our fully licensed venue with full AV. Great for birthdays, bucks parties, team building and Christmas. See functions & events.

Community
Barbecue is social, and the Australian scene is a tight-knit one. We've been part of it from the start, and we put back in wherever we can.
On the circuit and behind the scenes. The Natural Born Grillers have been cooking competitions since 2015, including the National Barbecue Championships in Forbes. Andrew also sits on the board of the Australian Barbecue Alliance, helping the organisation that sanctions competition barbecue grow the sport. We know what comp teams need because we're one of them.
Meatstock and the festival scene. You'll find us in the expo at Meatstock, and on the Traeger & Que Club demo stage, cooking, teaching and talking barbecue with thousands of fans. Over the years we've also hosted Meatstock's Melbourne launch parties.
Home to touring pitmasters. Some of the biggest names in barbecue have fired up at The Que Club. We've hosted pitmaster dinners and masterclasses with Diva Q, Chuds BBQ's first-ever visit to Australia, cookbook masterclasses with Adam Roberts, and book signings with live-fire expert Jess Pryles, whose Hardcore Carnivore range we import. If a great cook is touring Melbourne, there's a good chance they're in our school.
Community cooks and events. From Gozney community hangouts to Father's Day feasts and our BBQ series with Prahran Market, we love getting people together around a fire.
