Collection: MEATER

MEATER calls itself the creator of the wireless meat probe category, and it's now part of Traeger, Inc. The probe lives inside the meat and talks to your phone, so there's no cable trapping the lid or snagging the rotisserie. Each probe reads the meat's internal temperature and the cooker's ambient temperature at once, and the app estimates when to pull it and how long to rest.

We stock four: the MEATER Plus with its Bluetooth repeater in the charger, the MEATER Pro (the product MEATER used to call the MEATER 2 Plus) that handles up to 538°C ambient for direct grilling, the two-probe MEATER Pro Duo with built-in Wi-Fi, and the four-probe MEATER Pro XL with a screen on the charging block.

One cut at a time? The Pro. Point and flat, or two cuts? The Pro Duo. Pair it with an instant-read from our thermometers, run it on a rotisserie for pulled pork or smoked lamb rack, and see more BBQ accessories. Free shipping over $149.

MEATER in Melbourne: no wires, no guesswork

A MEATER probe lives inside the meat and talks to your phone, so there's no cable trapping the lid and nothing to snag on the rotisserie. Each probe reads the meat's internal temperature and the cooker's ambient temperature at the same time, and the app's estimator tells you when to pull it and how long to rest.

The range: the MEATER Plus, the MEATER Pro (the product MEATER used to call the MEATER 2 Plus), the two-probe Pro Duo with built-in Wi-Fi, and the four-probe Pro XL with its own screen on the charging block.

Which one should I choose?

  • MEATER Plus: 1 probe, Bluetooth with a booster in the charger (up to about 50 m), 100°C internal / 275°C ambient. Roasts, smoking and rotisserie on a budget.
  • MEATER Pro: 1 probe, Bluetooth long range (about 75 m typical at home), 105°C / 538°C ambient. Direct grilling and reverse sear.
  • MEATER Pro Duo: 2 probes, built-in Wi-Fi, 105°C / 538°C. Two cuts, or a brisket point and flat.
  • MEATER Pro XL: 4 probes, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, screen on the block. Big cooks and several cuts.

FAQs

Is MEATER Pro the same as MEATER 2 Plus?

Yes. MEATER renamed the MEATER 2 Plus to MEATER Pro; it's the same product.

Which MEATER should I buy?

One cut at a time: MEATER Pro. Two cuts or point and flat: Pro Duo. Big cooks: Pro XL. Tighter budget, low and slow only: Plus.

Can MEATER go on a hot grill?

The Pro range handles up to 538°C ambient, so direct grilling and searing are fine. The Plus tops out at 275°C ambient.

How far does MEATER reach?

Plus: up to about 50 m with the booster in its charger. Pro: about 75 m in a typical home. Pro Duo and Pro XL add Wi-Fi.

Does MEATER work in a kamado or Traeger?

Yes. Ceramic and steel can shorten Bluetooth range; the Wi-Fi models help.

MEATER or Thermapen?

Different jobs. MEATER stays in and watches the cook; Thermapen checks doneness in about a second. Most of us own both.

Can I use MEATER on a rotisserie?

Yes, it's wire-free, which is exactly why rotisserie cooks love it.

Where can I buy MEATER in Melbourne?

At The Que Club, 3-7 Syme St, Brunswick, or online with free shipping over $149.
