Collection: Fire Starters

No lighter fluid needed. The right fire starter gets your charcoal or wood going fast, with no chemical taste on the food.

The Looftlighter lights charcoal with superheated air in about a minute; The Que Club is the official Australian distributor of both the Classic and the Pro. A Weber RapidFire chimney (standard or compact) gets a full load of coals lit with a firelighter or a sheet of paper. Firelighters from Primo, Honeybrix, Charcoal HQ and Hot Devil light a kamado or kettle cleanly, and Hot Devil torches and lighters handle the rest.

Pair your starter with the right charcoal or smoking wood, and pick it all up in Brunswick.

How to light charcoal without lighter fluid

  • Looftlighter: point it at the coals and pull the trigger. Superheated air lights them in about a minute, then keeps fanning them to heat. Needs a power point.
  • Chimney starter: fill with charcoal, put a firelighter or paper underneath, and tip the coals out when the top layer is ashed over.
  • Natural firelighters: tuck one or two into the charcoal and light. Great for kamados.
  • Torch: fast for a single spot in a kamado or for binchotan.

Avoid chemical firelighters and lighter fluid: the taste ends up in the food.
