Collection: Hibachi Grills

A hibachi is a small, intense charcoal grill made for cooking close to the coals. It is perfect for yakitori, skewers, steak, seafood and anything you want seared hard and fast, and it makes cooking at the table part of the night.

Every hibachi here is a Hibachi Tabo, made in Australia. Ceramic bricks hold the heat and radiate it evenly, and the cast iron grill lifts out if you want to cook straight on skewers.

The Compact suits a balcony or tabletop. The Classic and Classic Pro are the home favourites, and the Commercial and Commercial-Wide are built for restaurants and big cooks. The extension system and hood turn a Classic or Commercial into a more versatile cooker. Pair it with binchotan charcoal for long, clean, high heat.

How to choose a hibachi grill

A hibachi is a small, open charcoal grill that cooks fast over intense heat. It's the grill for yakitori, wagyu, seafood, skewers and veg, and a good one can go on the table so everyone cooks together.

Every hibachi in our range is from Hibachi Tabo, designed and built in Australia from 304 stainless steel and lined with 25 mm ceramic bricks that hold heat and radiate it evenly.

What to look for

  • Grill size: match it to how many you cook for. The Compact's grill is 380 x 220 mm; the Classic's is 485 x 160 mm; the Commercial's is 720 x 160 mm.
  • Insulation: ceramic-lined grills hold heat longer and use less charcoal.
  • Vent control: adjustable vents at each end let you turn the heat up or down.
  • Yakitori rail: holds skewers just above the coals. The Compact includes one.
  • Lid or no lid: an Extension System & Hood turns the Classic or Commercial into an oven and smoker.

Which one?

  • Two people: Compact.
  • Family table: Classic.
  • Restaurant kitchen: Classic Pro or Commercial.
  • Butterflied fish and wider cuts: Commercial-Wide (230 mm deep grill).

Fuel it right

Use binchotan: Japanese-style white charcoal that burns hot and clean with very little smoke, for hours. Light it in a chimney, then lay it into the grill.
