Collection: Gran Luchito

Gran Luchito makes Mexican pantry staples for home cooks. The brand started in 2012 after founder Fergus came back from a trip to Mexico, launching with a single product, Chipotle Paste, on a market stall at Maltby Street Market. Gran Luchito is now a certified B Corporation and a member of 1% for the Planet.

That Chipotle Chilli Paste is still the hero. It's smoky, rich and a little sweet, and a spoonful goes a long way. We also stock Chipotle Lime Paste for a brighter, zesty version, Roasted Serrano Green Chillies, and Pickled Crunchy Jalapeño & Pineapple for topping tacos and burgers.

Rub chipotle paste over beef before grilling for steak tacos, or brush it on honey chipotle skewers. Find more in our glazes and marinades. Free shipping over $149, or click & collect in Brunswick.

Which Gran Luchito product for which job

  • Marinades and rubs: Chipotle Chilli Paste. Mix with oil, lime and salt for a steak, chicken or pork marinade, or stir a teaspoon into BBQ sauce for extra smoke.
  • Seafood and chicken: Chipotle Lime Paste. The lime makes it brighter, so it suits prawns, fish and chicken thighs.
  • Salsas and sauces: Roasted Serrano Green Chillies. Blitz with tomatillo or avocado for a green salsa, or chop through a pan sauce.
  • Toppings: Pickled Crunchy Jalapeño & Pineapple. Sweet heat for tacos, burgers, nachos and pulled pork.

How to use chipotle paste on the BBQ

Chipotle is a smoked, dried jalapeño, so the paste adds smoke even on a gas grill. For a quick marinade, use about a tablespoon of paste per 500g of meat with a splash of oil and lime. Give chicken an hour, beef a few hours. Watch the heat on the grill, as the sugars can catch. Cook over medium, then finish over direct heat to char.

It also works in a glaze. Mix chipotle paste with honey and a little butter and brush on in the last few minutes of the cook, like our honey chipotle skewers.

Build a taco night

Grill the meat with chipotle paste, top with the jalapeño and pineapple, and add a splash of something from our hot sauce range.
