Collection: Texas Oil Dust

Texas Oil Dust is a seasoning company from Texas making bold, all-natural rubs, sauces and injections with an oil-field theme. Their line-up runs from Oil Dust All-Purpose and Piggy Bank pork rub to Barn Yard Pimp for chicken, and their goal is to bring the bold flavours of Texas to the dinner table.

Right now we stock Wildcatter Garlic Rub, a garlic-led seasoning that isn't heavy on salt, so you can season generously without overdoing it. It works on beef, chicken, pork and vegetables, from steaks and burgers to roast spuds.

Use Wildcatter on a reverse-seared steak or smash burgers, or shake it over grilled veg. Browse more seasonings and salt and beef rubs. Free shipping over $149.

What to use Wildcatter Garlic Rub on

  • Steak: Season a ribeye or rump before a reverse sear or hot grill. Add salt to taste if you like a saltier crust, since Wildcatter goes easy on it.
  • Burgers: Shake onto smash burger patties as they hit the flat top.
  • Chicken: Thighs, wings and whole birds, smoked or roasted.
  • Pork: Chops and tenderloin on the grill.
  • Veg: Potatoes, mushrooms, corn and garlic bread.

How to use it

Pat the meat dry and add a light coat of oil. Season evenly on all sides and let it sit 10 to 30 minutes before cooking. Because it's garlic-forward, keep an eye on it over very high direct heat so the garlic toasts rather than burns. For veg, toss in oil and season just before they go on.

Pair it with

  • A cast iron pan or plancha: from our cookware range for a proper sear.
  • A salt or SPG rub: layer Wildcatter over a coarse salt for a Texas-style beef crust. See BBQ rubs.
